Dinosaur National Monument may well be Dinosaurland’s crowning destination. Discover fragments of a long ago world where the largest land creatures of all time once roamed and died. Experince the “Wall of Bones” fossil quarry, the only place in the world where you can view over 1500 bones all located in one mountain side. Whitewater rafting, camping, and hiking are also common, and fun, activities in Dinosaur National Monument.
Dinosaurland’s state parks, Red Fleet, Steinaker, Starvation, and Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum are all well worth a visit. Finding dinosaur tracks, exploring, fishing, camping, swimming, and boating in the Uintah Basin are just a little of what you can do within these parks as you discover history and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Vernal is a historic city situated between the Wyoming and Colorado border. It is home to Dinosaur National Monument, State Parks, Western Park Convention Center and Ice Rink, Uintah Recreation Center, a host of historic sites, locally owned businesses, restaurants, hotels, and western hospitality you would expect from a tourist destination. Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area is a huge array of Outdoor Recreation! Fishing, boating, whitewater rafting, historical sites, camping, hiking, and biking are just a few of the fun things you can experience at Flaming Gorge.
The Uinta Mountains are a subrange of the grand Rockies, the highest east to west range in the lower United States.
Roosevelt and Duchesne also share a rich western heritage, and Duchesne is home to Starvation State Park. Cultural events and natural landmarks define these cities. Duchesne County is also the gateway to the High Uinta’s Wilderness.
